KOTM Nominations
KOTM Nominations
Nominating a deserving kook for Usenet KOTM is pretty darned simple.
Please note in this example the name "Todd Graham Lewis" is being
used as the name of the kook being nominated. This is only an
example, and should not be implied as a statement that Todd is
a kook, no matter what his co-workers might think.. (Hi, Todd! :P
Post the nomination to alt.usenet.kooks:
The Subject: line should read:
Subject: NOMINATION: Todd Graham Lewis KOTM
The body of the message should give evidence of why
this person deserves to be chosen KOTM. Quotes, URLs, etc..
Also, please either send a copy of the nomination or drop a quick note
about the nomination to [email protected] so I don't miss the nomination..
The only rules that apply to nominations:
The nomination must be posted between the first
and last days of the appropriate month.
The nominee must not have won KOTM previously
The nominator should not be embroiled in a legal battle
with the nominee- KOTM isn't a weapon of vengeance.
A quick note about the above: I don't have the spare time
that I used to have to keep up with net.kooks. I don't know
who has a vendetta against who. If someone is properly
nominated in a.u.k., and there seems to be support for
the nomination (eg; people following up to the nominating
post seconding the nomination), then I'll count it. If
the nomination looks to go nowhere (eg; people following
up to the nominating post telling the poster what a moron
he is), then I'll likely NOT count the nomination.
My thoughts on vendettas are simple. If Person A has a
grudge against Person B, and I mistakenly allow one
or both of these people to be nominated, life will go on.
If the nomination was done out of spite for someone,
then the nomination isn't likely to get many votes,
and the problem is solved. If the nomination gets
a winning amount of votes, then there must have been
some substance to it.
In short, this is Usenet. If you really needed me to
explain all of this to you, you should go outside and
start working on a life.
